Unapproved Minutes of the October 17, 2016 BOE Meeting

UNAPPROVED REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES

OCTOBER 17, 2016

 

BOARD PRESIDENT GUNN LED EVERYONE IN THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.

 

BOARD PRESIDENT GUNN CALLED THE REGULAR MEETING TO ORDER AT 7:00 P.M. IN THE SUPERINTENDENT’S OFFICE AT 1008 COUNTY RD, BRUNSWICK, MO, 65236, WITH BOARD MEMBERS SIMS, WHITE AND YUNG PRESENT.  MANSON, MILLER AND ZEILSTRA WERE ABSENT.  ALSO PRESENT WERE SUPERINTENDENT KOTTMAN, ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL DUNCAN, HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL ENGELBRECHT AND BOARD SECRETARY GIGER. 

 

SIMS MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED.  WHITE SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0.

 

THERE WERE NO SPOKESPERSONS TO BE ADDED TO NEXT MONTH’S AGENDA.

 

SIMS MOVED TO APPROVE THE FOLLOWING CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS:  THE FINANCIAL REPORT, UTILITY REPORT, AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE AND AVERAGE DAILY BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PARTICIPATION REPORT, BILLS AND SALARIES AND PRINCIPALS’ REPORTS.  YUNG SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0.

 

DURING PUBLIC COMMENT SUPERINTENDENT KOTTMAN READ A THANK YOU FROM THE FAMILY OF LAURA STRAUB AND A THANK YOU FROM JENNIFER FORD ON BEHALF OF THE MISSOURI VALLEY COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY FOR THE USE OF THE MULTI FOR THEIR BACK-TO-SCHOOL FAIR AND FOLLOW-UP WORKSHOP.

 

SUPERINTENDENT KOTTMAN UPDATED THE BOARD ON REPAIRS TO THE ELEMENTARY AND LIBRARY ROOFS.

 

SUPERINTENDENT KOTTMAN UPDATED THE BOARD ON THE MARE CONFERENCE TO BE HELD OCTOBER 20, 21 AND 22, 2016.

 

BOARD MEMBER MILLER ENTERED THE MEETING.

 

DISTRICT AUDITOR JOHN W GILLUM CPA ENTERED THE MEETING AND PRESENTED THE DISTRICT’S AUDIT FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2016.  YUNG MOVED TO APPROVE THE DISTRICT’S AUDIT FOR THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2016 AS PRESENTED.  WHITE SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0.

 

SIMS MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 19, 2016 REGULAR AND CLOSED BOARD MEETINGS.  WHITE SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0-1 WITH YUNG ABSTAINING.

 

SUPERINTENDENT KOTTMAN TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMMEND AND THANK HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL ENGELBRECHT, HIGH SCHOOL SECRETARY JACOBS, MECHANIC GUNN AND TEACHERS BYRD, DOBBINS AND SINGLETON FOR THEIR HARD WORK IN CONTRIBUTING TO THE SUCCESS OF THE CLAA SOFTBALL AND DISTRICT SOFTBALL TOURNAMENTS THAT WERE HELD AT THE DISTRICT.

 

FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENTS, SIMS MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING TO CLOSED SESSION WITH CLOSED RECORD AND CLOSED VOTE PURSUANT TO RSMO 610.021(3)(6)(13).  WHITE SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0 BY ROLL CALL VOTE AS FOLLOWS:  MILLER, AYE; SIMS, AYE; WHITE, AYE; YUNG, AYE AND GUNN, AYE.

 

THE MEETING RESUMED FOLLOWING CLOSED SESSION.

 

WHITE MOVED TO ADJOURN FROM THE MEETING.  SIMS SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
