UNAPPROVED REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES MAY 18, 2020

UNAPPROVED REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES

MAY 18, 2020

 

BOARD PRESIDENT GUNN LED EVERYONE IN THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.

 

BOARD PRESIDENT GUNN CALLED THE REGULAR MEETING TO ORDER AT 7:00 P.M. IN THE LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER AT 1008 COUNTY RD, BRUNSWICK, MO, 65236, WITH BOARD MEMBERS MANSON, MILLER, RICE, SIMS AND ZEILSTRA PRESENT.  BARNETT WAS ABSENT.  ALSO PRESENT WERE BOARD MEMBER CANDIDATES SHAWN MEYER AND DEREK SCHUCHMANN, SUPERINTENDENT KOTTMAN,  HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL ENGELBRECHT, ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL SIMS, 2020-2021 HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SINGLETON AND BOARD SECRETARY GIGER. 

 

SIMS MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED.  RICE SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

THERE WERE NO SPOKESPERSONS TO BE ADDED TO NEXT MONTH’S AGENDA.

 

ZEILSTRA MOVED TO APPROVE CHECK NUMBER 37274 IN THE AMOUNT OF $175.20 TO DEBI CAMPBELL.  SIMS SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0-1 WITH MILLER ABSTAINING.

 

ZEILSTRA MOVED TO APPROVE CHECK NUMBER 37294 IN THE AMOUNT OF $100.00 TO ALYCE SIMS.  MILLER SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0-1 WITH SIMS ABSTAINING.

 

MANSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE FOLLOWING CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS:  MINUTES OF THE APRIL 20, 2020 REGULAR AND CLOSED SESSION MEETINGS, THE FINANCIAL REPORT, UTILITY REPORT AND BILLS AND SALARIES EXCLUDING CHECK NUMBERS 37274 AND 37294.  RICE SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

THERE WAS NO PUBLIC COMMENT.

 

MANSON MOVED TO CANCEL 2020 SUMMER SCHOOL.  SIMS SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

SUPERINTENDENT KOTTMAN, BOARD MEMBERS AND GUESTS TOURED THE CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS. 

 

MANSON MOVED TO APPROVE A BID FROM YUTZY BROTHERS ROOFING FOR $6,000.00 FOR SEALING PART OF THE NEW CONSTRUCTION AND RE-DOING AN AREA WHERE A DRAIN HAS BEEN ELIMINATED.  SIMS SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

RICE MOVED TO APPROVE PAYING MZ CONTRACTING ONE-HALF OF THE BALANCE FOR INSTALLING THE REMAINING CUBBIES IN THE ELEMENTARY CLASSROOMS.  SIMS SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

MILLER MOVED TO APPROVE PAY APPLICATION #7 TO SEPTAGON CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $332,169.46.  ZEILSTRA SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

THE DISTRICT RECEIVED 14 BIDS FOR THE 855 JOHN DEERE TRACTOR.  RICE MOVED TO ACCEPT THE HIGHEST RECEIVED BID IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,755.00 FROM DUNCAN.  MANSON SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

THE DISTRICT RECEIVED 23 BIDS FOR THE WALK-IN COOLER/FREEZER.  ZEILSTRA MOVED TO ACCEPT THE HIGHEST RECEIVED BID IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,012.50 FROM WEBER.  MILLER SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

THE BOARD DISCUSSED THE SITE FOR SPRING BASEBALL.  NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.

 

SUPERINTENDENT KOTTMAN PRESENTED A RESOLUTION OF THE BRUNSWICK R-II SCHOOL DISTRICT ADOPTING THE CHARITON COUNTY MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN.  SIMS MOVED TO ADOPT THE RESOLUTION AS PRESENTED.  ZEILSTRA SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

DURING ANNOUNCEMENTS, PRINCIPALS ENGELBRECHT AND SIMS REVIEWED A SURVEY THAT DISTRICT FAMILIES WERE ASKED TO COMPLETE.  THE SHORT SURVEY GATHERED INPUT IN THE EVENT HOME LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES WERE NEEDED AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. 

 

MILLER MOVED TO ADJOURN FROM THE MEETING.  SIMS SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0.

 

THE MEETING ADJOURNED AT 8:15 P.M.
