Unapproved Minutes From Feb 2021 BOE Meeting

UNAPPROVED REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES

FEBRUARY 16, 2021

 

BOARD PRESIDENT SIMS LED EVERYONE IN THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.

 

BOARD PRESIDENT SIMS CALLED THE REGULAR MEETING TO ORDER AT 7:00 P.M. IN THE LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER AT 1008 COUNTY RD, BRUNSWICK, MO, 65236, WITH BOARD MEMBERS BARNETT, MANSON, MEYER, RICE, SCHUCHMANN AND ZEILSTRA PRESENT.  ALSO PRESENT WAS NICK REISCHE, TEACHER ELIZABETH RUNYON, SUPERINTENDENT ENGELBRECHT, ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SIMS, HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SINGLETON AND BOARD SECRETARY GIGER.

 

ZEILSTRA MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED.  MANSON SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0.

 

ELIZABETH RUNYON PRESENTED AN EVALUATION OF THE MUSIC PROGRAM.  NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.

 

RUNYON LEFT THE MEETING.

 

THERE WERE NO SPOKESPERSONS TO BE ADDED TO NEXT MONTH’S AGENDA.

 

BARNETT MOVED TO APPROVE CHECK NUMBER 38279 IN THE AMOUNT OF $109.76 TO HEATH HARMS.  RICE SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0-1 WITH ZEILSTRA ABSTAINING.

 

ZEILSTRA MOVED TO APPROVE CHECK NUMBER 38285 IN THE AMOUNT OF $230.00 TO MANSON BROS.  MEYER SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0-2 WITH MANSON AND BARNETT ABSTAINING.

 

ZEILSTRA MOVED TO APPROVE CHECK NUMBER 38299 IN THE AMOUNT OF $140.00 TO SHERRY’S HOME COOKING.  SCHUCHMANN SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0-1 WITH SIMS ABSTAINING.

 

RICE MOVED TO APPROVE THE FOLLOWING CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS:  MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 19, 2021 REGULAR AND CLOSED SESSION MEETINGS, THE FINANCIAL REPORT, UTILITY REPORT, AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE AND AVERAGE DAILY BREAKFAST AND LUNCH PARTICIPATION REPORT, EXPENSE CHECKS EXCLUDING CHECK NUMBERS 38279, 38285 AND 38299, AND PRINCIPAL REPORTS.  ZEILSTRA SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0.

 

THERE WAS NO PUBLIC COMMENT.

 

SUPERINTENDENT ENGELBRECHT UPDATED THE BOARD ON COVID.  HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SINGLETON UPDATED THE BOARD ON FFA JUDGING DAY.  NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.

 

SUPERINTENDENT ENGELBRECHT PRESENTED A THREE YEAR TAX COMPARISON. NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.

 

SUPERINTENDENT ENGELBRECHT PRESENTED THE GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE RATES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2021 FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR WITH A 1.39% RATE INCREASE.  RICE MOVED TO APPROVE THE 2021-2022 GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE RATES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2021 AND FOR THE EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTION TO REMAIN AT $500.00 PER MONTH AND A $125.00 MONTHLY STIPEND FOR THOSE ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES THAT WAIVE THE HEALTH INSURANCE.  BARNETT SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0.

 

SUPERINTENDENT ENGELBRECHT ASKED THAT THE BOARD DECLARE 5 CHROMEBOOKS CARTS AND 1 110 VOLT COMMERCIAL STAND MIXER AS SURPLUS PROPERTY.  ZEILSTRA MOVED TO DECLARE THE 5 CHROMEBOOK CARTS AND 110 VOLT COMMERCIAL STAND MIXER AS SURPLUS PROPERTY.  RICE SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0.

 

FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENTS, ZEILSTRA MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING TO CLOSED SESSION WITH CLOSED RECORD AND CLOSED VOTE PURSUANT TO RSMO 610.021(3)(6)(13).  SCHUCHMANN SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0 BY ROLL CALL VOTE AS FOLLOWS:  MANSON, AYE; BARNETT, AYE; RICE, AYE; MEYER, AYE; SCHUCHMANN, AYE; ZEILSTRA, AYE AND SIMS, AYE.

 

THE MEETING RESUMED FOLLOWING CLOSED SESSION.

 

MANSON MOVED TO ADJOURN FROM THE MEETING.  MEYER SECONDED THE MOTION.  THE MOTION CARRIED 7-0.

 

THE MEETING ADJOURNED AT 8:04 P.M.
